Variations Products
/variation-templates
Reusable named sets of variation values, such as Size (Small/Medium/Large), used to build out a Variable product's individual variations.
The table lists each template's Name, its comma-separated Values, and an Action column. Edit is always available; Delete only appears when the template has zero product variations already built from it, protecting variable products from losing their variation definitions out from under them.
Creating a template takes a Name (for example "Color") and a list of Values (for example Red, Blue, Green) entered one per row. Editing a template's name or a value's wording propagates the change to every existing product variation already using it, so renaming stays consistent across the catalog rather than only affecting new products.
A template is applied when creating or editing a Variable product: choosing it generates one variation line per value (or per combination, when more than one template dimension is used), each with its own SKU and prices.
Step-by-step Workflow
- Review existing templatesCheck the Name and Values columns for variation sets already defined, such as Size or Color.
- Create a templateName the template and list its values, one per row, for example Small, Medium, Large.
- Apply it to a Variable productOn the product create/edit form, set Product Type to Variable and choose this template to generate one variation line per value.
- Rename with careEditing a template's name or values updates every product variation already using it, so renaming is safe to do consistently.
- Remove unused templatesDelete is only available once no product variation still references the template.
