Messages Essentials

A shared internal chat board where users post short messages tagged to a business location, visible to everyone with access.

Messages renders as a single scrolling chat box rather than a list. Every message anyone has posted, subject to the essentials.view_message permission, appears in the box, newest at the bottom, and the page auto-scrolls to the latest message on load.

Users with the essentials.create_message permission get a composer at the bottom: a text box for the message plus a location dropdown so the message is tagged to a specific business location, and a submit button to post it. New messages are appended to the chat without reloading the page.

Existing messages can be deleted individually, with a confirmation prompt first, and the page also checks for new messages while it is open so the board stays current.

Step-by-step Workflow

1. Read the boardScroll through the chat box to catch up on what has been posted.
2. Compose a messageType your message in the text box at the bottom.
3. Tag a locationChoose the business location the message relates to from the dropdown.
4. Post itSubmit the message; it appears immediately at the bottom of the chat.
5. Remove a messageDelete a message you no longer want visible, confirming the prompt.
