Bulk-creates suppliers and/or customers from a fixed-column .xls file built on the site's downloadable template.

This screen requires supplier.create or customer.create, and the server's PHP Zip extension must be enabled — if it is not, the page loads with a warning instead of the form. A Download Template File button provides the exact .xls template to fill in; the File to Import field only accepts .xls files.

An instructions table below the form documents every column the template expects, in order, each marked required or optional: Contact Type (a numeric code: 1 = customer, 2 = supplier, 3 = both), Prefix, First/Middle/Last Name, Business Name (required when importing suppliers), Contact ID, Tax No, Opening Balance, Pay Term and Pay Term Period (required for suppliers), Credit Limit, Email, Mobile (required), Alternate Contact Number, Landline, City, State, Country, Address Line 1/2, Zip Code, Date of Birth, and up to several business-configurable custom fields.

On submit the whole file is parsed and processed inside a single database transaction: every row must have the expected number of columns, or the entire import is rejected with an error rather than partially applied.

Step-by-step Workflow

  1. Download the templateClick Download Template File to get the .xls file with the exact column layout the importer expects.
  2. Fill in contact rowsAdd one row per contact, following the instructions table for which columns are required and which are optional, including the numeric Contact Type code.
  3. Upload the fileSelect the completed .xls file in File to Import and click Submit.
  4. Verify the resultIf any row's column count or required data is invalid, the whole import is rejected; on success, review the new records on the Suppliers or Customers list.
