Entry point for opening a new cash register session at a location before taking sales through the POS terminal.

This screen's main function is its Add button, which starts a new cash register. It opens a form where you choose a business location and optionally enter an opening cash amount; submitting creates the register with status Open, records the opening amount as an initial cash-in transaction if one was entered, and takes you straight into the POS terminal for that location. If a register is already open for you, clicking Add skips the form and returns you directly to the POS terminal instead.

The rest of a register's lifecycle is managed from inside the POS terminal itself rather than from this list: its header offers a Register Details button (requires view_cash_register) showing the open session's running totals, and a Close Register button (requires close_cash_register) for ending the session.

Closing a register opens a form comparing expected totals — cash, card, cheque, bank transfer, advance, and any custom payment methods, split between sales and expenses — against what you actually counted: Total Cash, Total Card Slips, Total Cheques, and, if configured, a cash-denomination breakdown, plus a closing note. Submitting marks the register Closed and stores the counted totals; a new register must then be opened before further POS sales can be taken at that location. Closing a register is disabled on demo installations.
