Units Products
/units
The measurement units products are bought and sold in, with optional base-unit conversion and mapping to government-recognized units for tax filings.
This screen requires unit.view or unit.create, and adding a unit needs an active subscription. The table lists each unit's Unit Name — shown with its base-unit multiplier in parentheses when it is defined as a sub-unit (for example, "Dozen (12 Piece)") and a checkmark icon when it is mapped to a government unit and the business's package has GST export, e-invoicing or e-way billing enabled — plus Short Name, whether it Allows Decimal quantities, and an Action column with Edit/Delete.
Creating a unit can optionally define it as a sub-unit of an existing base unit with a multiplier, so a product can be purchased in one unit and sold in another (with quantities converted automatically). A unit can also be linked to a standard government unit, which is required for GST/e-invoicing/e-way-bill compliance; an Import Government Units action bulk-creates the full standard list in one step.
Deleting a unit is blocked with a "Unit cannot be deleted" message if any product still uses it.
Step-by-step Workflow
- Review existing unitsCheck the Unit Name, Short Name and Allow Decimal columns for units already defined.
- Add a unitClick Add, enter the name and short name, and set whether decimal quantities are allowed.
- Define a sub-unit (optional)Set a base unit and multiplier so this unit converts automatically to another, such as Dozen to Piece.
- Map to a government unit (optional)Link the unit to the correct government-recognized unit, or use Import Government Units to add the full standard list at once, for GST/e-invoicing compliance.
- Maintain the listEdit a unit's details, or Delete units that no product currently uses.
